What this life looks like
You are the voice of the consumer inside an organisation. Market Research Analysts gather and interpret data about customers, competitors, and markets to help businesses make better decisions — about what products to launch, how to price them, which customers to target, and how to position against competitors. Every strategic business decision should be informed by market research.
What she actually does
You design quantitative surveys and qualitative research studies (focus groups, in-depth interviews), manage fieldwork in target markets, analyse data using statistical tools, write research reports and presentations, translate consumer insights into strategic recommendations, and track brand and market metrics over time.

Why it matters in Africa
African consumer markets are complex, diverse, and rapidly evolving — with enormous variation across countries, languages, income levels, and cultural contexts. Companies seeking to serve these markets need rigorous, on-the-ground research that goes beyond what global data providers can offer. Africa-specialist market researchers are in high demand from multinationals and local companies alike.
